Frequently Asked Questions
What is a normal BMI?
A BMI between 18.5 and 25 is considered normal (healthy weight) by WHO standards.
Is BMI accurate for athletes?
BMI doesn't distinguish between muscle and fat mass. Athletes with high muscle mass may have a high BMI without being overweight.
What is BMI Prime?
BMI Prime is your BMI divided by 25 (the upper limit of normal). A value of 1.0 means you are at the upper limit of healthy weight.
Does it work for children?
This calculator uses adult BMI categories. For children and teens, BMI percentiles adjusted for age and sex should be used instead.
